Variant titleA Waverley Library Local History FactsheetAuthor/CreatorWaverley LibraryContentsBondi Junction’s development into a highly desirable residential, commercial, and retail centre can be traced back to the advent of transport routes through the 19th and 20th centuries.
Bondi Junction's history as a retail and commercial centre was reinforced with the advent of the Eastern Suburbs Railway in 1979, the Bondi Junction Plaza and Eastgate shopping centres and later Bondi Westfield. Despite modernisation, traces of the suburb's commercial heritage remain visible in the late 19th and early 20th century retail buildings along Oxford Street and Bronte Road.TypeFactsheetCollectionLocal History Factsheets
