Variant titleLifeguard Oral History Project transcriptContentsBrian Collins, born in 1922, was a Bondi boy early on. His father was manager of the surf sheds and the family lived there until they relocated to accommodation at Bondi Pavilion. He and his wife have fond memories of life at Bondi. They recall the beach being a magnet for visitors, saying “ the tram would arrive they’d be queued outside the dressing pavilion waiting to get in, for quite some distance. And trams used to arrive then I suppose on a, well they came from the railway, central railway, and they came from the quay, about every five minutes.
