Guido's Beach House
Description
Scope and contents
In 1951, Italian brothers Guido and Gianni Pellicciari arrived in Australia, igniting a culinary journey. Guido, a gelato pioneer who learned the craft in Rome's famed Gigi Fazzi, introduced Aussies to the authentic delight of this Italian delicacy. Guido then passed this tradition to Gianni and his children, cementing the legacy. In 1961, spotting a beachside gem in Bondi Pavilion, Guido seized the opportunity. He approached cafe owner Dick Parter and established a corner to sell gelato through the cafe's window. From that moment, the Pellicciari brothers shared their cherished gelatos for a shilling each, setting the stage for a generations-old recipe rooted in Roman tradition.
